When I first started in Astronomy, FLO (pronounced “Flow”) was my “Dark Site”, about 30 minutes away from Kingston it is where I took some of my first astrophotography photos.
The site is operated by Ottawa chapter of RASC and to use the site you need to be a member and pay an additional annual fee for FLO which entitled you to know the combination on the main gate and get a key for the warm room which was a nice touch on cold winter nights.
Now there are several observatory building housing scopes on the property, however access to them does require training and special access to avoid miss-use. I have my own equipment so beyond getting the training I never used the main scope on site.
